We assess each business individually to find a funding solution that fits, but there are some general criteria for the businesses we can support:

        • UK-based operators – We provide finance only to care home businesses and developers operating in the UK.
        • Established businesses – Most of the businesses we support have at least 3 years of trading history; start-ups are typically not eligible.
        • Financial strength – Our minimum funding of £1m, designed for larger-scale growth, development projects and acquisitions, is generally suited to businesses with a strong balance sheet and multi-million-pound revenues.
        • Regulated care providers – Operators must comply with UK care regulations.

To explore your care home finance options, get in touch with our team and discuss your business and funding requirements. Yes. Shawbrook can support improvements to existing care homes as part of a wider growth strategy. Many operators choose to upgrade or reconfigure their homes alongside acquisitions, developments or broader expansion plans, and our specialist care home finance solutions can help you structure funding that supports both improvement works and long-term growth.

For smaller-scale upgrades, you may also benefit from our unsecured business loans, typically available from £25k to £350k. This can support projects such as refurbishments, new equipment, technology investments, and sustainability enhancements. If this type of funding is more suitable, your Commercial Finance Broker can help you explore the options available.
