£3 Billion and Counting – Backing UK Development and Delivering 11,000+ New Homes
Shawbrook has reached £3 billion in total development funding since the Development Finance team was established in 2016. This important milestone reflects both the dedication of our expert team and the meaningful impact our lending has had across the UK property landscape and the communities it supports.
Through more than 800 development projects, our funding has helped deliver over 11,000 new homes across the UK, alongside over 1,400 purpose-built student units. We’ve supported a diverse range of developments, from co-living and commercial schemes to care homes, each contributing to local communities by creating housing, supporting regeneration, and enabling growth in areas that need it most.
Our Development Finance team has been central to this journey, working closely with brokers and developers from early planning through to completion, with an approach shaped by regional expertise, flexibility and agility to support ambition and navigate the complexities of today’s market.
Some of our recent achievements include:
- Funding the development of four high-end townhouses with the ‘best view in world golf’ built adjacent to the 17th Green and 18th Fairway on the Old Course in St Andrews
- Delivering a £13m facility to support the construction of 42 residential apartments in Wimbledon
- Supporting the delivery of sustainable housing in Melton Mowbray with a £4.2m facility
Reaching £3 billion is a significant milestone, particularly as we mark 10 years since the Development Finance team was established. What matters most, however, is what that funding has enabled. Contributing to the much-needed UK housing supply by supporting the delivery of 11,000 homes is something we’re incredibly proud of, and it speaks to the strength of the relationships we’ve built with developers across the UK.
