Thrive Apprenticeship Programme

What we're looking for

  • You will have the right to work in the UK and to have lived in the UK continuously for the past 3 years
  • GCSE grade 4/5 or 5C in Scotland or above in Maths and English are required to join any of our apprenticeship programmes. Our legal programme requires a minimum of 4 GCSE’s (England) or 4 N5’s (Scotland) at grade C or equivalent, including Maths and English. Students without respective qualifications will be considered in line with any extenuating circumstances
  • You’ll either be in Year 13, S5 or S6 (Scotland) or equivalent working towards completing your studies in Summer 2024 or looking for your next career move with the opportunity to study towards achieving an advanced (level 3) or higher (level 4) apprenticeship or a modern Level 6 SCQF Qualification (Scotland) in September 2024.
  • We will be flexible on age criteria for applicants who are carers or disabled, in which case you must be 29 or younger at your start date
  • You cannot apply for an apprenticeship or modern apprenticeship programme if you have a qualification in the apprentice area you are wishing to apply for

2024 Thrive Apprenticeship Programme opportunities

From September 2024 we will be offering a range of apprenticeship programmes.

Each programme will entail immersive on the job learning alongside our experts allowing you to truly understand our business and start your career at the same time as studying toward a relevant industry recognised apprenticeship qualification at Level 3 or Level 4 or SCQF Level 6 (Scotland) dependent on the programme you choose.

Applications to our Thrive programme will open soon. You will need to select which apprenticeship programme or programmes that you wish to apply for and complete the online application process, submitting a CV and answering some short questions outlining your motivations in applying for the programme. One of our team will review your application and we’ll be in touch with you by the end of May 2024.

Successful applicants will be invited to an assessment day at Shawbrook’s offices in London and Glasgow in late June or early July. The day will comprise a range of activities, exercises and a competency-based interview, designed to ensure that you not only showcase yourself, but have fun.

Our opportunities

Software Engineering

The Software Engineering Programme is ideal for young adults eager to become confident junior engineers and build skills across the entire software development cycle, while studying towards a Level 4 Software Engineering Apprenticeship Standard. The programme is 15 months in length and will entail you working within Shawbrook’s engineering team as part of our technology function. The qualification will start with a 12-week bootcamp to build your skills and confidence. After 15 months, apprentices will be able to design, develop and secure accessible, full stack applications.

Business and Retail Banking

The Business and Retail Banking Programme is ideal for young adults looking to build an understanding of the financial services sector and pursue a career in relationship management, sales & marketing, operations and risk management while studying towards a Level 3 Senior Financial Services Customer Advisor Apprenticeship Standard in England or SCQF Level 6 Providing Financial Services Modern Apprenticeship Standard in Scotland. The English programme is 16 months in length, and you’ll spend 12 months immersed within one of our Property Finance, Business Finance or Personal Finance team. Our Scottish programme is 16-18 months in length, you’ll spend time immersed within our Savings and Customer Service teams, before broadening your understanding of the customer journey for the remainder of the apprenticeship.

Roles in our Level 3 Apprenticeship will be based in London and Brentwood, Essex.

Roles in our SCQF Level 6 Modern Apprenticeship will be based in Glasgow.

Data

The Data Programme is ideal for young adults eager to become confident in navigating the data landscape, using data to inform business decisions, while studying towards a level 3 Data Technician Apprenticeship Standard. The programme is 12 months in length and will entail you working within Shawbrook’s Risk and Audit teams supporting data analytics efforts and providing insights & trends to help drive value on what ‘matters most’.

Roles will be based in London and Brentwood.

Legal

The Legal Programme is ideal for young adults eager to build a career within the legal profession and will provide on the job experience through assisting members of Shawbrook’s in house Legal Team on a variety of issues faced by a regulated financial services provider while studying towards a level 3 Paralegal Apprenticeship Standard. The programme is 24 months in length and will cover a broad range of content ranging from ethics, professionalism, the legal system and how to practice law within financial services.

Legal

Digital Marketing

The Digital Marketing Programme is ideal for young adults eager to pursue a career in digital marketing and will provide on the job experience supporting the existing Shawbrook Digital Marketing Team to design, deliver and enhance the Shawbrook brand in its respective markets while studying towards a Level 3 Digital Marketer Apprenticeship Standard. The programme is 18 months in length and will cover a broad range of content ranging from search engine optimisation, customer lifecycle, information security and GDPR, principles of coding and creating a digital strategy.

Mobile And Computer

Marketing

The Marketing Executive Programme is ideal for young adults looking to develop their skills in marketing. You will be able to help shape, support and deliver marketing plans working with our marketing team. This is a highly audience focused role which requires creativity, communication and project management skills. You will study towards a Level 4 Marketing Executive Apprenticeship Standard. The programme is 15 months in length and will cover all aspects of marketing from concepts and theories to evaluation and analysis.
