What is Thrive?

You want real world experience in a leading financial services business and a genuine head start to your career? And you want a decent salary at the same time as furthering your learning and qualifications?

Thrive: The Shawbrook Apprenticeship Programme helps you take the first steps in your career and beyond, aimed at 18 to 24-year-olds looking to kick start their career.

What we're looking for

  • You will have the right to work in the UK and to have lived in the UK continuously for the past 3 years
  • GCSE grade 4/5 or 5C in Scotland or above in Maths and English are required to join any of our apprenticeship programmes. Students without respective qualifications will be considered in line with any extenuating circumstances
  • You’ll either be in Year 13, S5 or S6 (Scotland) or equivalent working towards completing your studies in Summer 2025 or looking for your next career move with the opportunity to study towards achieving an advanced (level 3) or higher (level 4) apprenticeship or a modern Level 6 SCQF Qualification (Scotland) in September next year
  • We will be flexible on age criteria for applicants who are carers or disabled, in which case you must be 29 or younger at your start date
  • You cannot apply for an apprenticeship or modern apprenticeship programme if you have a qualification in the apprentice area you are wishing to apply for

Key dates

  • Our next application window will open at the beginning of 2025 
  • We have work experience events taking place from October onwards, you will find these advertised on the Uptree website

Thrive apprenticeship programme opportunities

Each programme will entail immersive on the job learning alongside our experts allowing you to truly understand our business and start your career at the same time as studying toward a relevant industry recognised apprenticeship qualification at Level 3 or Level 4 or SCQF Level 6 (Scotland) dependent on the programme you choose. Details will follow soon on our defined 2025 apprenticeship programmes.

Our 2024 opportunities

Business and Retail Banking

The Business and Retail Banking Programme is ideal for young adults looking to build an understanding of the financial services sector and pursue a career in relationship management, sales & marketing, operations and risk management while studying towards a Level 3 Senior Financial Services Customer Advisor Apprenticeship Standard in England or SCQF Level 6 Providing Financial Services Modern Apprenticeship Standard in Scotland. The English Programme is 16 months in length you will spend this time immersed within either our Structured Finance team or Consumer Lending and Savings team. Our Scottish programme is 16-18 months in length, you'll spend time immersed within our Savings and Customer Services team whilst working in direct contact with customers. You will also broaden your understanding of the customer journey during the apprenticeship. 

Roles in our Level 3 Apprenticeship will be based in London and Brentwood, Essex.

The role in our SCQF Level 6 Modern Apprenticeship will be based in Glasgow.

Business Administration

The Business Administration Programme is ideal for young adults looking to build an understanding of the financial services sector and pursue a career in relationship management, sales & marketing, operations and risk management whilst supporting in a business environment. You will be studying towards a SCQF Level 6 Business and Administration Modern Apprenticeship Standard in Scotland. The programme is 12 months in length, you'll spend time immersed within our Customer Service team, before broadening your understanding of the customer journey for the remainder of the apprenticeship. 

The role in our SCQF Level 6 Modern Apprenticeship will be based in Glasgow.

Data

The Level 3 Data Programme is ideal for young adults eager to become confident in navigating the data landscape, using data to inform business decisions, while studying towards a level 3 Data Technician Apprenticeship Standard. The Level 3 Data Programme is 12 months in length.

Our Level 4 Data Programme is ideal for young adults who are confident in navigating and using data, but are looking to broaden their knowledge on data programming and implementing their skills to form decisions that can support the business. The Level 4 Data Programme is 15 months in length.

The Programmes will entail you working within Shawbrook’s Audit and Chief Technology Office teams.

Roles will be based in London.

Human Resources

The Human Resources Programme is ideal for young adults looking to build a career in HR. You will be studying towards a Level 3 CIPD HR Support Apprenticeship Standard over a 16-month programme. You'll spend your time immersed in our HR Service Delivery team answering queries from our Line Managers and colleagues relating to HR policies and processes, recruitment, development and reward.

The role will be based in Brentwood.
