Cura Terrae, the Latin form of ‘take care of the Earth’, is a purpose-driven business led by experienced entrepreneur Professor Pete Skipworth.

Palatine Private Equity, an award-winning private equity house, successfully completed the multi-million-pound investment into Cura Terrae in March 2022 with Shawbrook subsequently providing a Unitranche Debt facility and a Committed Acquisition facility as well as a Working Capital facility.

The investment further bolstered Palatine Impact Fund’s commitment to investing in companies that create environmental or social change to generate returns with purpose, and this funding package alongside Palatine’s commitment will support the company during the next stage of growth.

Cura Terrae comprises three market-leading businesses, Environmental Monitoring Solutions (EMS), Ecus and Envirocare, and the group will look for further suitable complementary acquisitions to add to the group as part of a strategic growth plan.

Shawbrook’s debt funding package will support Cura Terrae’s future acquisition and organic growth plans, with the investment by Palatine strengthening the foundations of Cura Terrae’s operations and providing an enhanced platform for growth moving forward.

Our mission at Cura Terrae is to take care of the Earth. We believe that businesses have an obligation to operate sustainably and Cura Terrae will help them meet and maintain environmental standards across land, air and water. At Cura Terrae, we see our work as a vocation, with a core mission to protect the environment.

— Pete Skipworth, CEO at Cura Terrae

Pete added:

“We’re excited for the future and evolving our business with the support of Palatine’s Impact Fund and Shawbrook.”

James Gregson, Partner, Palatine Impact Fund, said:

“Cura Terrae is an outstanding purpose-led business and a trusted partner of many industry-leading companies across the UK. We have known the originating businesses for a number of years and are delighted to be working with Pete and the team to support the strategy for growth.”

“It’s been a pleasure to work with the Shawbrook team who’ve once again demonstrated their expertise and ability to deliver a thoughtful and practical solution that meets our needs. We’re delighted to have found a lending partner that aligns to our values and really understands the Cura Terrae business and what we’re trying to achieve.”

Deepak Parekh, Senior Director with Shawbrook’s Financial Sponsors team, said:

“It’s been great to work with the Palatine team again and strengthen our relationship further. We’re proud to support organisations who make a truly positive impact on the environment and look forward to seeing what Cura Terrae can achieve in this next phase of growth.”
