Our point of sale loans are unsecured loans, just like our personal loans. Although Shawbrook provide the loans, you may have applied for the loan as part of a purchase. Most people just call this a mortgage. It's a loan secured on the property you live in. Being 'first charge' just means that if you sell the property, we have first claim to any money resulting from the sale.
You may hear this called a second charge mortgage or a secured loan. It's also a loan secured on the property you live in. You'll normally have a 'first charge' mortgage as well as the loan with us.
