A Kettering-headquartered provider of foiling services to the fenestration and building materials markets – which was founded by a Scotland rugby great – has been acquired.

Profoil works with companies across the UK and Republic of Ireland, and will now become part of the Q19 Group.

The company – founded in 1996 by Colin Deans MBE, who is considered an all-time great of Scottish rugby – joins fellow industry brands Window Widgets and Residence Collection, which between them operates from manufacturing facilities in Gloucester and Kettering.

The Q19 Group will now implement an investment programme to support further growth across all its businesses, with "bold ambitions for the future direction" of the operation.

The deal was put together by the Q19 director team with advice from Cattaneo Corporate Finance and Legal Clarity and financial support from Shawbrook.

The management of Profoil was advised by Kingswood Business Sales, a division of Richmond Capital Partners.

I, along with the other directors of the business, are pleased to announce the strategic acquisition of Profoil, a key supplier to Window Widgets.

— Sarah Hitchings, Sales and Marketing Director of Q19 Group

Sarah added: "We now have an opportunity to continue investing and realising the considerable potential of Profoil within our group."

Charles Cattaneo commented:

"Having advised the Window Widgets team on the management buy-out of the business in 2019, we are delighted to have advised them on the acquisition which fits well with the existing operations and provides new growth avenues for the group."

Mark Parsons, Managing Director, Head of ABL at Shawbrook added:

“After assisting Window Widgets with funding for its Management Buyout in 2019, it’s great that we’ve been able to strengthen the relationship and support them through another key business milestone. We look forward to seeing what the team can achieve as the Q19 Group”
