Shawbrook Bank opens Regional Business Centre in Bristol

09 November 2017

Shawbrook Bank has opened the doors to its first Regional Business Centre in Bristol. The plan is to strengthen its support and commitment to businesses across the UK by deploying local specialists who understand the market and sectors their business customers are operating in.

The South West and Wales Regional Business Centre, under the leadership of Terry Wolfendale, Regional Managing Director, is one of an initial seven Centres to open across the country.

Commenting on the opening, Terry said: “Opening a new Regional Business Centre in Bristol was an obvious choice for us. Not only does the local area have a diverse and exciting economy, but from Bradley Stoke we’re ideally located to reach our customers and partners across the South West and into Wales. We’ve created a great team of experienced people and we’re now focussed on working with SMEs across the region, whether they’re looking to finance new kit or invest for growth.”

In discussion with a number of professionals from the local business advisory community, Steve Pateman, CEO of Shawbrook explained why it was important to be investing in regional teams to deliver what Shawbrook can offer:

“For many SMEs, access to funding depends upon a banker taking the time to understand what they’re trying to achieve and the dynamics of their specific market, as well as their trading history. Having experienced bankers on the ground, people who know the local economy and have access to sector expertise, enables us to offer these businesses another choice – a genuine alternative from what they might find elsewhere.”

What we deliver at Shawbrook is a detailed and bespoke approach to risk management, looking into potentially complex scenarios and using our expertise and judgment to solve them with the correct financial package.”

Ian Cowie, Managing Director of Business Finance explained further:

“At Shawbrook we believe it’s important that businesses have choices when it comes to finding financial support. We believe we can offer a genuine alternative with our approach, which relies heavily on the expertise of our people and the relationships they build with our customers and the local professionals, accountants and solicitors we work so closely with.”
